Daphne Groeneveld | VERSACE FW 2011 (MFW)

CFDA

Long time no talk my loyal readers, I’m so terribly sorry for not writing anything in a while, but you should know that work’s been crazy and my older sister is getting married, which means I’m not only playing a part as the brother-of-the-bride, but also as the planner, stylist and psychological help for the rest of the family, it’s a handful but Martha has taught me well.

I decided that my come-back post had to talk about the latest grand event of the fashion world, the CFDA Awards. It took place yesterday, at Lincoln Center. A fabulous affair meant to celebrate the best of the fashion industry, which was scrutinised by yours truly, I watched it -livestream- of course, gasping every moment of the night, dreaming of the day I will be the one walking those black stairs to receive my lifetime achievement award from the dearest Mademoiselle Von Furstenberg.

I’m going to take just a small paragraph to talk about Rihanna in custom Adam Selman. It wasn’t my favourite. I mean it was a gorgeous dress, and she look good in it -she does have a nice body- but it wasn’t appropriate for the event, I’m all for showing your boobs for fashion, but there is a very fine line between avant=garde and tacky. One thing this generation of fashionistas need to know, is you don’t have to be vulgar to be remembered.

In general it was a good night for the fashion folks, but I have to give someone the spotlight. For the past couple of events I’ve been loving Blake Lively, maybe being on Gossip Girl is finally taking an effect on her, she’s been looking not only gorgeous, but also extremely fabulous, and last night was no exception, su kudos to you girl, keep up the good work.

Aside from her nipples, Rihanna also won the 2014 Fashion Icon CFDA Award (you go girl!). Joseph Altuzarra also won, not only my heart (since I am from now on officially obsessed with him), but the CFDA Award for Womenswear Designer of the year. Check out the full winners’ list here.

But as for every other award show, the winners were eclipsed (as always) by the red carpet; check out my winners:

It’s almost summertime y’all, but my “bikini bod” couldn’t wait that long, so after quite-a-little consideration I decided it was time to splurge in a little beach-time, so off with the trousers and the completely buttoned up shirt, because it’s time for some heat-approved attire.

The look is pretty much budget friendly, except for the sunnies, which I might add cost me a small fortune but where completely worth it. The shades are vintage Oliver Peoples ($799), the collarless shirt is Springfield (€29.99), the indigo shorts and the braided belt are Zara ($49.99 each), and the pink Birkenstocks are well… Birkenstock ($44.95) -*smart shopper advice: if you are petite (like me) you can buy great brands at great prices, just go for the kids section-.

THE BEST OF MET

Last night, was a night for glamour, where A-listers got to strut down the most glamorous red carpet there will ever be, the Met Ball gala; where Sarah Jessica Parker is queen and Anna Wintour the over attentive planner.

But it isn’t just about getting the world’s eyes on your gown, or throwing the most exquisite theme party (this year’s was all about keeping it classy with a white tie dress code), the Met Ball marks the opening of a new fashion exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and last night everyone (except for Gwyneth Paltrow) attended the event to celebrate the life and work of ball gown designer Charles James.

Of course, as always, some people tend to think that dress codes are optional -including me, except that I would never dare to disobey Ms. Wintour, she could melt my face- well for some of you they’re not (Insert Solange Knowles here), if you’re not going to pull a Cara Delevigne in Stella McCartney trousers with a barely-there-cropped-top or Stella McCartney herself, don’t try to make a statement… Leave it to the professionals. On the other hand, there were the ones that let the enormous gowns make the statement, as always Sarah Jessica Parker translated the dress code to the dot, giving us a fabulous monochromatic dress from Oscar de la Renta. But hands down, the one that shined the most, was the one I like to call (since today) the Charles James from our time: the incredible Zac Posen, with almost his entire collection gracing the red carpet.

Check my favourite looks from last night stravaganza and tell me what do you think.

Who knew Gisele had a Heart of Glass

Who knew Gisele had a Heart of Glass…

I love watching supermodels doing things besides strutting fiercely down the runway, yes I get so jealous, but I still love it. So naturally, I was pumped to hear that Gisele Bündchen would be showing off her singing chops for her upcoming campaign with H&M, lunching on May 1st. Luckily, the retailer didn’t make us wait too long to actually see her in action after dropping the news—the video is…

"Dreams" by Dana Williams and Leighton Meester

The amazing Fleetwood Mac cover everybody is talking about! This perfect mesh between cool and chill is so amazing, I’m setting my weekend mood around it. I’m personally adoring Leighton post-queen-B-bitchy-spoiled-diva-Blair-Waldorf over here, all relaxed poolside jamming with Dana (although no one can make me love any less of that…

BEST LOOKS

The biggest, wisest and most fabulous character in TV ever is undeniably Carrie Bradshaw. Being a gay kid in the modern world it was kind of an obligation to watch the cult classic, but it transcended a bit more in my life. For me, Carrie, isn’t just a love guru, she is a life coach, she taught me about love, about being a GBF (Gay Best Friend) and of course about fashion.

So I took it upon myself, in honor of Sarah Jessica Parker’s birthday, to review her always shifting, always chic, always iconic looks. Here are my abso-FUCKING-lutely 15 favorite looks:
